The film describes the extraordinary anti-slavery efforts taking place in Lowell in the mid-19th century when the cotton mills were at their peak. Prof. Robert Forrant and Maritza Grooms visit the sites that still exist in downtown Lowell where abolitionist activity occurred, including a stop on the Underground Railroad. The film is free and open to the public, although seating is limited. A discussion led by the film collaborators follows the screening.
